- Baby Courts: The Experience of the Infant in the Legal System
Keynote Speaker: Dr Deborah Weatherston, USA Deborah Weatherston PhD is currently Executive Director of the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health involved in the development of the endorsement system for infant mental health specialists and other home visitors. She has been the Director of the Graduate Certificate Program in Infant Mental Health at Merrill-Palmer Institute, Wayne State University and a state and national consultant on infant mental health services. She has published extensively and serves on the task force of the national centre for Infants, Toddlers and Families in Washington D.C. Deborah had a leadership role in the publication “Courts, Child Welfare and Infant Mental Health – Improving outcomes for abused / neglected infants and toddlers” [2008]

Bonnie Fordham, Child Protection Coordinator Capital and Coast DHB With an MA (applied) SW from Victoria University, Bonnie has 15+ years experience with Child Youth and Family in various roles specific to child protection and several years as Practice Manager for a non government Child and Family Support Service. Her current role involves developing a multidisciplinary, multiagency response that considers the unborn infant and their parent.
